With reference to your letter No. 134/1906, dated 16th. instant, I forward herewith a tracing showing the line of
the Road and the proposed ground to be acquired the latter in- -formation has already been given on your plan returned with this office letter No. A/7966/1, dated 3rd. instant, from the General Officer Commanding to the Officer Administering the Government.
It may be necessery later on to acquire one or two small patches of ground for P.F. Cells or observing stations, but
these will only be a few square feet.
"Clearance Rights" would be required over all the ground below the Battery West of a line North and South through Mount Davis Summit that is to say, any building would be liable to destruction which interfered with the field of fire but there appears little likelihood of this being developed as a residential
quarter.
I have etc.,*
(Sd.) C. H. Darling,
Colonel,
Chief Engineer, South China
Com and.
The Honourable
The Colonial Secretary,
